Brooke White did one of my favorite Dolly Parton songs Jolene. I was a little worried that David Cook would come in and do the White Stripes version of the song. Nothing against David Cook, but I gotta side with Jack White any day of the week.
Anyway, I didn’t mind Brooke’s version, but at the same time I wasn’t sold on it. Dolly sings it with such compassion and in a way that you really picture her crying out to Jolene not to take her man. I just didn’t feel like Brooke cared.
The judges seemed to think it was alright.
