The rocker everyone is talking about, David Cook, took a path I wasn’t expecting when he sang the Dolly Parton song Little Sparrow. I thought for sure he would do a cover of the White Stripes cover Jolene.
Anyway…wow. As if you didn’t know already, this kid can sing. He hit the high notes, harmonized, and did just about everything right with this song. Cook is going to have to do something terrible in order for him not to win this competition. Between his rock songs and the falsetto on this one, I think he’s got the competition locked down.
You can say that again. American Idol would lose credibility for sure if David Cook doesn’t win. Tired of vanilla singers like Archuleta. David Cook is incredible.

I found this article from the website http://www.davidcooktheamericanidol.com and just wanted to say that I love David Cook and agree with what you guys said 100%. You should take a minute to check out that fan site for DC. It’s really funny and even has some of his pre Idol music.
I’m very impressed with him so far. Not only am I enjoying his performances, but he comes across as intelligent and an overall class act.
I know this show is great exposure for him, I just hope he hasn’t made a deal with the devil, also known as the AI execs.

Total Class, Brilliant songwriter, arranger and singer, Intelligent, caring and cool person, what more does Idol want? This guy is truly talented. If American Idol wants to gain some credibility with picking winners, this guy is it. He should win the entire show. Archuleta can’t even come close to David Cook’s singing power and range.
David Cook is the most brilliant singer I have heard in a long, long time; perhaps ever. I am a classical singer and a winner of a vocal scholarship and have taught many singers, therefore I feel that I have at least some expertise in this area. I always have loved really good rock singing. His voice is huge, raw, emotional, powerful and beautiful. Pure gold. He can go from 0-60 in a split second - he truly IS a thoroughbred. His writing is VERY special too.It has an incredible ENERGY and sheer force to it.
I think he possesses genius..
AI will really make a big mistake if they “push” David A over David Cook.
I agree that they will lose all credibility. David A has a sweet and pure voice but it cannot even be mentioned in the same stratosphere as David Cook’s resonant MACHINE. He fires golden bullets into brilliant notes..They are wildly good.
I SO LOVE David Cook! He is SO amazing, talented, gorgeous, seems genuinely appreciative of compliments…the list goes on. Tuesdays can’t get here fast enough and I can’t wait to see what he will do next. While I fear that the teeny boppers will vote their tails off and David A. will win, I’m not entirely sure I want David C to win. Previous winners seemingly have not been thrilled with the first album AI makes them put out. It may be better for David to be runner up so he’s free to make his own music. However, I do want to see him on that stage all the way to the end. I couldn’t take it if I couldn’t see him every week.
I so agree with you. I studied opera and think his voice is amazing. His arrangements on insignificant little songs like Little Sparrow converting them into wonderful songs are unique. I have yet to find better. He is THE TALENT. Voices like David A are a dime a dozen.
