April 8th, 2008 | by superhush |Queen falls into the category of bands that you shouldn’t cover unless you can just kill it. I know lots of bands and singers cover Queen, but hardly any of them do it well. Sadly, Carly Smithson falls into this category for me.
If you know a little history on this song, then you know that it was released just six weeks before Freddie Mercury died. The song captures Mercury’s desire to keep performing despite his declining health. With so much history and passion behind this song it just didn’t sound right hearing Carly sing it.
I think this might be her last week on the show. She’ll be bottom three for sure.
