American Idol Shocker!

April 10th, 2008 | by superhush |

Wow. Can you believe that Michael Johns was the contestant to be sent home this week? Crazy. I didn’t think he was going to win, but I did think he would go a little big further in the competition.

Anyway, here’s a recap for the April 10th American Idol episode.

With over thirty-one million votes cast, Ryan Seacrest let Brooke White, David Cook, and David Archuleta all know they were safe (no big surprises there).

Next Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown performed “No Air,” and the Idol Finalists performed “I Just Want To Celebrate” for the Ford music video.

Following the performances Seacrest let Jason Castro and Kristy Lee Cook know they were both safe. Leaving Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, and Syesha Mercado in the bottom three. I’m fine with this, mainly because I’m positive that Carly is going home (even though TiVo aid Syesha was going home). The judges seemed partially shocked with the bottom three, although Simon didn’t seem too surprised.

Ryan then let Carly and Syesha know they were safe before he dropped this bombshell: “That means Michael has the lowest number of votes this week. Now, last year during Idol Gives Back, we didn’t eliminate anybody at this stage of the competition. Tonight, we’re going to say goodbye to Michael Johns.” - ouch.

What do you think? Were you surprised to see Michael Johns sent home tonight?

I am so sorry to see Michael Johns go home. He reminded me of Cliff Richard (when I was a little girl)so I guess I liked the older guy! He still has a great career ahead of him. Good Luck Michael!
