More Reality for MTV

June 3rd, 2008 | by superhush |

The long running joke about MTV has been, “do they even play music videos?” It appears the “music television” network doesn’t really care about the music anymore as they’ve ordered four new reality shows and are developing three more.

The first show in the works is an untitled 50 Cent show that is said to be somewhat like the Apprentice. 16 contestants will compete for either a full undergrad scholarship or graduate school scholarship. Pretty cool prize if you ask me. Especially considering the lack of emphasis on education in television today.

Next up is Making the Rock Band. After countless number of “Making the Band” seasons, P. Diddy is moving out of the R&B/Hip Hop game and making a rock band. This, at the very least, should be an interesting show.

The last two shows, Busted and Buzzin’, follow two very different groups of people. Busted will show what happens with juvenile lawbreakers from both the side of the kids and the side of law enforcement. Buzzin’ will follow around three rich kids (Shwayze, Cisco Adler, and Warren) as they continue to try and crack the music industry.
